About this test

The NarcoCheck^® IDetect^® Synthetic Cathinone is designed to detect synthetic derivatives of cathinone (the active ingredient in khat) in solids (powders, crystals) and liquids, as well as invisible particles on surfaces and objects.

To detect the presence of synthetic cathinones in powders, crystals, tablets, liquids, etc. Simply collect a few milligrams of the substance to be tested. The test then clearly indicates whether the sample contains methcathinones, with a positive or negative result.
To detect invisible traces of synthetic cathinones on surfaces and all types of objects. The sterile swab provided in the kit allows you to collect microscopic residual particles present on any object, utensil, or surface that has been used to handle methcathinones. The test then clearly identifies them with a positive or negative result.

This test cannot determine the proportion of synthetic cathinones in the analyzed sample.
Based on an immunological reaction, it detects the tiniest traces of synthetic cathinones.
It will therefore yield a positive result for both a sample consisting entirely of methcathinones and a sample partially composed of methcathinones (cut/contaminated with 3-MMC, for example).

To identify a sample of synthetic cathinones, i.e., to determine whether a sample consists mainly or entirely of methcathinones, use the ID-Test Synthetic Cathinones based on a chemical reaction.

This test is a professional device used to help identify presumptive drugs or narcotics in the form of powders (fine or agglomerated), crystals, tablets, or some specific plants. It is not designed to test "anything and everything" (food, beverages, biological materials etc.), and particularly everyday products (household, gardening, cosmetics etc.) which contain various chemical compounds that can trigger unexpected reactions, and thus cause false or erroneous results.

Confirmation of a positive or negative result

Like any rapid test, this test delivers a purely indicative result. To know or confirm with certainty the composition of the sample, it is necessary to analyze it with a reference analytical method such as GC/MS or HPLC-MS/MS. The use of this test must therefore be done with full knowledge of the fact that no rapid screening test can be 100% reliable.
