NarcoCheck® saliva test to detect nicotine (tobacco) consumption.
Less invasive than a urine tests, easier to use, faster and without any manipulation!
What does this test detect?
This saliva test detects cotinine, i.e. nicotine once it has been transformed by the body.
What exactly is showing this test?
Cotinine is today recognized as the main biological marker of tobacco use.
A positive result in this test means active consumption (usually several cigarettes have been smoked).
This test will therefore tell whether or not the person tested has consumed nicotine in the last 24 to 72 hours.
Warning: this test gives a positive result if any tobacco product (cigarettes, pipes etc.) is used, but can also give a positive result if any product containing nicotine is used or consumed, such as transdermal patches, nicotinated chewing gums, electronic cigarettes, etc. Indeed, whatever the mode of consumption, nicotine will be transformed into cotinine by the body and will therefore be detected by the test.
The benefits of saliva tests:
For parents, this nicotine saliva test can be used as part of a comprehensive prevention against smoking. In most households, young people are not allowed to smoke. This is not to ruin their lives, but to protect them. Regular testing can help to enforce this rule. Many youg people will be reluctant to light a cigarette if they know they will be tested.
Tobacco has always been (along with alcohol) the first drug that young people are exposed to. The first cigarettes are smoked among friends, cousins or neighbors. They are smoked discreetly, taking care that parents do not notice. Most adult smokers started this way. Often, young people even start smoking to give in to group pressure.
Setting up regular tobacco testing in the home can give some people a timely and valid reason to refuse a cigarette: "no, I can't smoke, my parents test me".
The principle is simple:
1 - The donnor must put the absorbant tab in his/her mounth and salivate on it for a few seconds.
That's it ! Nothing more.
The test will then start automatically.
2 - Read the results after 10 minutes.
Two letters are written on the white cassette:
C = control line; It must always be present otherwise the test is invalid.
T = test line for cotinine.

No, the saliva test gives a qualitative result of the type "YES / NO" (positive or negative). If you are looking for more complete information, like a semi-quantitative result such as "LOW, MEDIUM or HIGH consumption", please use the nicotine urine test with pre-dosage, which evaluates the amount of traces of nicotine present in the urine.. |
