This urine test detects the consumption of N,N-dimethyltryptamine, more commonly known as Dimethyltryptamine or DMT.
DMT is a very powerful psychedelic compound found in certain plants, such as Psychotria or Anadenanthera. It can cause brief, but rapid and intense hallucinations.
Dimethyltryptamine is structurally close to tryptamine and psilocybin (hallucinogenic mushrooms).
In its natural form, DMT is the main hallucinogenic component of Ayahuasca, a South American concoction made from plants and traditionally used for ritual purposes.
It is now more commonly used in its synthetic form as a recreational drug. DMT often comes in the form of a white or yellow crystalline powder. It can be taken orally, consumed as a tea, smoked or injected.
DMT is not proven to be addictive, but one can become resistant to its effects, which means that it is necessary to take more of it to obtain the same effect as with the previous doses.
This urine test for DMT can be used to detect its use for 24 to 48 hours after the last use (depending on the amount used and the way it is used).
