About this test
The NarcoCheck® TIA rapid test strip is an immunoassay for fast the detection of Tianeptine use in human urine.
Tianeptine is an antidepressant. It is generally prescribed to treat major depressive episodes. It acts by modulating glutamate, promoting neuroplasticity and improving mood, while avoiding the sedation or weight gain observed with other conventional antidepressants.
Tianeptine is sold under various brand names, such as Stablon, Tatinol, and Coaxil.
Misuse: Tianeptine is taken in high doses for its euphoric and sedative effects, which are similar to those of opioids. This use carries a high risk of dependence, potentially fatal overdoses, and very painful withdrawal symptoms. In North America, it is sold illegally under the names “Zaza,” “Tianaa,” or “Neptune's Fix” at some gas stations and vape shops.
Overdose or prolonged use can cause respiratory depression, seizures, heart problems, and severe withdrawal syndrome, especially when combined with other central nervous system depressants.
This urine test strip detects the presence of tianeptine or its metabolites in urine. This type of test is generally used in emergency rooms to guide treatment, in addiction treatment to monitor withdrawal, or in occupational medicine and in family settings to secure high-risk environments.
