About this test
The NarcoCheck® TAP rapid test strip is an immunoassay for the fast detection of Tapentadol use in human urine.
Only few drops of urine are needed. Dip the tip of the strip and have a clear result 5 minutes.
Tapentadol is a semi-synthetic opioid painkiller that acts on μ receptors and noradrenaline reuptake.
In medicine, it is prescribed to relieve acute or chronic pain that is resistant to conventional painkillers, for example after surgery or in severe osteoarthritis.
It is available under the names Nucynta®, Palexia®, and Tapal®.
Misuse: Because it provides a rapid feeling of euphoria and relaxation, tapentadol is sometimes found on the illicit market. Some users crush the tablets to swallow them in high doses or even snort them. The goal is to seek a “high” similar to that of morphine while believing that they are limiting the risks.
When misused or combined with alcohol and other depressants, it can cause deep drowsiness, respiratory distress, vomiting, and dependence. Prolonged use increases the risk of withdrawal syndrome and impaired judgment, which is dangerous for driving and working at heights.
This urine test can be used to monitor treatment compliance and detect misuse or acute intoxication.
