NarcoCheck® PreDosage : a new revolutionary urine test for nicotine / cigarettes
This test gives an indication of the tobacco consumption level of the last 48/72 hours.
It detects in the urine the presence of cotinine, which is the main biomarker of smoking. Any consumption of nicotine (eg cigarette) will produce traces of cotinine in the body, and this is what this test screens.
3 detection levels
At the forefront of smoking screening, this test does not only say Positive or Negative, but also gives an indication on the amount of cotinine that is detected in the urine sample. This information is particularly useful for monitoring the evolution of a consumption or the successful conduct of a weaning.
This test is extremely effective over time, when carried out in series (on a weekly basis, for example). A first screening serves as a reference test. The following tests will then show the decrease or increase in cotinine level in urine. By leading regular screenings, it will be possible to determine if the subject has stopped his consumption or if he has smoked again.
This test is recommended for:
Parents who need to know the tobacco consumption habits of their teenagers, or who help and support them during weaning.
Healthcare professionals, who need a rapid and inexpensive way to ensure that detoxification is keeping going as planned.
Consumers themselves, who can finally understand how massively can tobacco impregnate their metabolism.
Benefits of our PreDosage system (a nicotine test with multiple levels)
Determine the level of nicotinic impregnation: Not all cigarettes have the same nicotine dosage, and not all smokers have the same way of smoking. Using the NarcoCheck® PreDosage cotinine test, the actual level of impregnation can be found more accurately by assessing the concentration of cotinine in the urine according to 3 detection levels (low / medium / high).
Obtain objective and reliable information : Several scientific and sociological studies have already shown that many smokers hide their consumption or minimize it considerably when they have to talk about it. In 2011 one of these studies reported that 21% of smokers lie to their loved ones on their tobacco consumption, while 15% even lie to their doctor (source: Ipsos-Pfizer.) The use of the NarcoCheck® PreDosage cotinine test can therefore be very useful in order to obtain objective information.
What do the different levels of this test reveal?
• Level n°1
Low concentration of cotinine in urine.
This may reveal:
either a light consumption (1 to 3 cigarettes) over the last 48 hours.
or a more or less ancient consumption whose traces are being eliminated by the organism.
• Level n°2
Medium / significant level of cotinine in urine.
This level corresponds to the international standard threshold for cotinine screening.
This usually means a consumption of 3 to 10 cigarettes per day.
• Level n°3
High concentration of cotinine in urine.
This usually means a consumption of more than 10 cigarettes per day.
What does this test exactly detect?
The consumption of any product containing nicotine, including cigarettes, cigars, pipes and other tobacco inhalation systems.
Caution: This nicotine screening test will also give positive results when using nicotine replacements (chewing gum, patch, etc.) or electronic cigarettes (except with e-fluids that do not contain nicotine).
How long does cotinine remain detectable in the urine?
Usually, the time that traces of nicotine can be detected in the urine is 48 to 72 hours after the last use.
SEMI-QUANTITATIVE URINE TEST FOR COTININE (NICOTINE METABOLITE)
The NarcoCheck® PreDosage urine test is used to detect the presence of cotinine in urine. It is a semi-quantitative pre-dosage test, ie it is used to determine if the concentration of cotinine in the urine is low, medium, or high.
